Cemetery Bookings
Arranging the Burial
Once the death has been registered or Coroner investigation completed you are able to make cemetery arrangements with the Leicester City Council Cemeteries Department or Crescent Funerals, their out of hour's service provider. They will instruct Saffron Hill Cemetery staff to prepare the grave and facilities for burial.
Note: Booking of burial slots can no longer be done in advance of the registration or completion of the Coroner's Investigation.
When the registration is complete the Registrar of Births & Deaths will hand the Burial Order directly to the next of kin or informant. They will need to then deliver or email the Burial Order to the cemeteries department before undertaking the burial booking process.
In the case of Coroner's investigations, once these have been completed the Coroner will email the Coroner's Burial Order and body relase paperwork to you or your nominated Funeral Director, if you are using one,
You will need to complete the council’s Notice of Burial form (BRV1). You can download this form using the link below. It is important to remember that whoever signs this form will be the person responsible for settling the council's cemetery costs and the only person authorised to make decisions on the funeral service.
Please ensure that you read and understand the guidance notes on graves and memorials found with the Notice of Burial.
